To increase irrigation water for the Dingchaofeng Canal in Wufeng District, Taichung City, a “Lower Chaofeng Branch Line Waterwheel” was installed approximately 400 meters downstream of the Dingchaofeng Canal’s waterwheel, along the Azhaowu No. 1 Canal. This waterwheel has a diameter of 9 meters and is designed to intake 0.1 CMS of water. It draws water from the main line of the Azhaowu No. 1 Canal, raising the water level by over 3 meters to supply the Dingchaofeng Canal, irrigating more than 30 hectares of farmland downstream. The waterwheel not only reduces electricity costs for pumping but also adds a unique scenic feature to the Azhaowu No. 1 Canal.
