The Nanhong Canal draws water from the south bank of the Nangang River near Niudong in Shuitou Village, Puli Township, Nantou County. The main line winds along the foothills of the Shiyifen Mountains. At a point with a significant height difference, early settlers inscribed “Fengchu Cave” above the energy-dissipation tunnel, mirroring the “Wolong Cave” inscription at the entrance of Niudong Tunnel. This inscription is a valuable cultural asset for the local community. In collaboration with the Shuitou Village Community Development Association, we built Fengchu Park, which features an ecological pond, waterwheel, and wooden bridge. The park connects the community’s canal-side trail with the trail to Lingyen Mountain Temple, enhancing its recreational appeal.
